Following the recent release of their Mixtape, Platinum, and as they continue to prepare for their anticipated new album, Diamond, the Constant Deviants duo of rapper M.I. and producer DJ Cutt continue to leak exclusive, all-original non-album tracks to hold fans over. Premiering today is "Walk of Fame," a track which stays true to the Deviants' sample-driven and boom-bap-embracing sound.

Reinforcing their New York roots – "Walk of Fame" contains a Frank Sinatra sample while the drums are sampled from the classic "Impeach The President" break, by the Honey Drippers. Raw, dusty and full of soul, "Walk of Fame" is more of a race to better days than anything. As M.I. says of the message, "We're just kind of relaying some of the urban plight and expressing a plan to escape!"

That's right ladies and gents!! we've been hijacked by the esteemed writer Werner von Wallenrod. SIX2SIX Guess Blogger

This is Werner von Wallenrod guest blogging to ya over at The Six2Six Shift. And for my post here, I thought I'd do something a little out of step from what I'd ordinarily do on my own blog. See, Six2Six's a tight, indie label that specializes in releases of quality music by over-looked artists... the MCs that never quite got the shine their talent deserves. So, conversely, I figured over here, a whole other breed of rapper is getting ignored. I'm not talking about wack, sucker MCs, because god knows enough's already been said about them. I'm talking about the most prevalent of all: The Mediocre MC.

See, The Mediocre MC isn't wack. He can flow all right. He's got a couple CDs with some okay beats on them, and he never strays too far from the pure elements of hip-hop. You'll hear his songs on your mixtapes, you'll nod along. Your girlfriend will stay on the dance floor when he comes out to perform at a show and continue to have a good time. You've got a few of his 12" in your crates even if you don't remember exactly why you felt you had to have them when you saw it in the store at the time.

He's got an okay voice and his flow is cool. He has a clever line or two if you listen to his album all the way through. You like that song where he flowed over that guest producer's beat and the posse cuts he was featured on were cool. He ain't bad.

But he's not good either. Most of his songs are sort of general, freestyle... probably. Thinking back on it now, it's hard to remember what he talked about on his songs, but someday we totally intend to go back to his last couple records and really pay attention, when we have the time. Maybe when we're home sick from work for a week, that'd be a good time. Then we'll finally hear what it is all the great MCs, DJs and bloggers who keep putting him on are so excited about.

The Mediocre MC has a following, after all. He's very supportive of the region he's from and stays doggedly true to that area's sound. He's always got some harsh words for his "haters." He'll shout out the four elements of hip-hop, but doesn't usually have much else to say about breaking, writing or even DJing, probably because he doesn't know anyone who's into that stuff. He might do a political song, but it won't get much deeper than "don't let the government control your mind," "fight the corporations" or other generic platitudes. Great rappers' seem to burn bright and fall off hard, but The Mediocre MC just keeps on truckin'. And even though the music industry has changed, and 95% of rap fans illegally download their music for free, somehow he still stays in business.

It's almost 2011, the international economy is probably this close from a Mad Max situation. I don't know about you guys, but I don't have the resources to support The Mediocre MC anymore. Yeah, he's not bad... but there are vast oceans of great music out there in hip-hop's history; and as dark as times may appear, more is still being created and unearthed. It's time for us as fans to start knuckling down on what we actually spend our time listening to. Valuing what's current over what's great just for the sake of staying in the conversation and following the latest rap gossip? Life's too short!

And rappers? How about instead of recording mixtape after mixtape full of half-assed songs, why not focus on making three or four that are really, consistently worthwhile? Because you know, you might think you're bowling us over when you give interviews bragging about how you wrote your last album in less than 48 hours, including two verses you just strung together in the booth... but actually, we as listeners could already tell. What's good everybody , in the next week or so SIX 2 SIX will be auctioning off a MASSIVE COLLECTION from a Nationally known radio (US) DJ from our backyard (BALTIMORE) .He simply wants to make room in his house (having kids) and wants to get rid of them immediately.Now just gauging whats in this collection is mind boggling .Let's put it this way , he along with his cousin (DJ ROCKIT) belonged to record pools and worked at two of the best record stores here in HARM CITY for crazy years, and from my own experiences from back in the day HE & ROCKIT had it all!! I mean test pressing's of complete LP's like BREAKING ATOMS from MAIN SOURCE , IMPORTS , PROMO'S , etc. ... He just dropped off a crate of a local variety that included PHYSIC'S from our boys SPARROW , THE ANNEXX CLIQUE whole series , really (RAER) .Also more of the (LAUNCHPAD) singles SIX 2 SIX were selling 'STREETS OF GOLD' + 'KEEP YOUR DAY JOB' + 'JEZEBEL' etc. Now, these records are completely unsealed and are in excellent condition and most of them are doubles ....DAMN!!!!! I will have more details soon , its gonna take us a minute to compile his collection .

He got his first crash course as a DJ mixing it up at local nightspots and other clubs and started creating his own mix tapes. First of all, I would like to thank ALL of you for your support and love of our artful expression. There is NOTHING more gratifying as an artist than having your thoughts, ideas, and passion for music appreciated. And that is why I felt it necessary to address your concerns.

I will first address the shipping and handling cost. I know that the majority of the lovers of our music are outside of this country. Now with that being said, as you all may know this is not the first time we have shipped overseas. We have paid for shipping anywhere from $15 to $41. These costs, that fluctuate, are based on size, weight, and shipping location. Being that we know the size of each box, the primary pricing point is the weight and shipping location. So obviously when the quantity of records increase so does the weight. With the increase in weight comes the increase in cost. Then there is the location. And of course it costs more to send a pound or two across the pond to your country as opposed to across this country. And that cost is anywhere between $15 and $41 dollars. Now one of the concerned mentioned that if you ordered 100 records the $20 does not change. And you are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. It would not change for you but it will DRASTICALLY change for us. Because most wax lovers grab two records the $20 is based on the weight of two records. I haven't the faintest idea how many records each and everyone of you are going to order or where we will be shipping them to. And rather than try to figure all of that out we decided that $20 would be a fair flat rate. I also must mention that packaging cost as well. We do not search the trash for boxes hoping to find some that records can fit in. The sizes vary and then costs vary again. We buy boxes to ship them in; in bulk almost a dollar a box. And there is also the paypal service charge which varies based on amount. With all of these VARIABLES we felt that $20 would, again, be a fair flat rate.

I will now address the cost and amount pressed up. Regardless of what amount has been pressed ONLY 350 are being sold PERIOD. Only 350 are available to YOU. 150 are me and my partner's personal copies. Take that how you want it. But you all must understand, between me and my partner we own 3 copies of Physics / Rhyme Impotence. THAT'S IT!! And they ARE NOT for sale. And it has been that way since Unruly released that record. WE HAVE NOT MADE A DIME FROM THAT RECORD; AT ALL. It's the TRUTH! Not one penny. So when you see that record go for $1,000 or $600 or $300 or whatever it cost, it is not in financial support of us. Many of you have and I am not mad AT ALL at that. I said that to say that all we want to do is FOR ONCE control our own work. We have NO control over any of the Physics/Rhyme Impotence records out there. The digging community will ACTUALLY determine if EVER our 150 records will even hit the market. And it is not even 150! There are a few people that we owe favors. These are OUR records. 350 records are yours. This way we finally control our OWN expression. We only ask that you support us as you always have. We are not trying to pay mortgages or whatever you are saying. We are Sparrow The Movement. We are at the ground floor of a MOVEMENT. We want to be able to continue to do this. We are torchbearers of a music that a lot of us in this country (USA)have forgotten. This is a MOVEMENT and ALL we want to do is continue this and build on it. And all we need is your support. The only reason I felt a need to address your concerns because you will make it possible for me to continue making official HIP HOP MUSIC and in the future distribute others who create official HIP HOP music. Now if you can not afford it that is fine. We have all new music coming in the near future that will be priced differently.

It is not our intention to offend anyone and if you are offended I truly am sorry. Because of all of you Sparrow WILL continue to create good music and I pray you will continue to listen.
